Books to Read Summer 2015

I have started my summer since April or May, i don't even remember but I haven't really read a book and I miss doing it. The past years I would totally finish a lot of books during the summer but i guess this time around i'm more into watching series... But I want to start back at it because I also have accumulated some books that I wanted to read but didn't finish... here's a list that maybe you might get interested in.

1. Rebels: City of Indra by Kendall and Kylie Jenner

I specifically got this book just because I'm a fan of them! It was sold out everywhere when I wanted to buy it so I had to make reservations for me to have a copy of it.I've read a few pages before and all I can remember is that it'
s set in a different world where 2 girls are living opposite lives.

2.Girl Online by Zoe Sugg

This book I got way back in February during our trip to London and I haven't made a huge progress since... I'll admit that I only got this book because I was a huge fan of Zoe but this time I just want to commit to reading and finishing my list!

3. Grey by E.L. James

This book is a must read, sadly I only knew about this recently and I don't want to spend 499php on it so I just decided to have a free audiobook at Audibles! so excited for this because the story is told from Christian's point of view just like my next book to show!

4. Four by Veronica Roth

The first 3 books I finished reading in just a week and I'm very excited for the fourth book! I hope I can see more of Four here and on how he thinks and feels.

5. The Death Cure by James Dashner

I promised myself to read this after the movie of The Scorch Trials came out and it's about to in a few months so I probably have to get started soon. I want to read ahead the movie just so I can understand even the minute details of the story when I watch it in movies just like what I did on the first book as well as the second.

Easiest way to clean your Pandora at home!

We all love our Pandoras may it be our charms or rings, but we must face the fact that they are not real legit silver so they do turn "rusty" but don't worry they don't feel rusty. This problem has an easy solution just because they offer lifetime free cleaning for all our Pandora charms and necklaces. You can drop it off at 11-2pm so you can just wait for an hour or so until you can pick it up and it will look like brand new again! But we don't have all the time to go to the mall and have them cleaned, so I found this way from my cousin that you just have to use a toothbrush and a toothpaste and just brush all the dirt away! As soon as i learned about this I tried it right away and it worked really well!

Below are pictures of my own Pandora:

This is how they look like after a few days... they look "rusty"

This is how they look like after brushing with toothpaste! I hope you can see the difference specially with the Unicorn charm's body.

Hope this helps! :)

Fashion Student Essentials PH version

Some of you may know that I'm studying at a fashion school in the country and I just want to share these basic tools you will surely need as you enter basic sewing classes! I had some problems with some as I didn't have a clue what they looked like in the first place and also some of the terms your professor might tell you wouldn't be the term Tabora or Divisoria uses.

  1. Portable Sewing Machine, I say portable instead of the industrial one just because you will need to bring it to school every class and it might be imposible if you have an industrial one. plus the school will provide that.
I have the Brother Pasteria one and it might not be the finest but it gets the simple jobs done.

2. Fitting Form, The sizes you need might vary from different professors but most likely it will be the small one. You can get the best quality in terms of body sizing from Mannequin Incorporated at 2000Php (with stand)

3. Rulers, these are very important in pattern making and to buy the right ones. I got mine at Tabora in Divisoria at Eversons. You will probably need the Grid Ruler, French Curve, L square and a Curved Stick with the brand "Kearing" It will also costs you around 2000++Php

4. Styling Tape, this is for having a guide on your fitting form. It's actually just 1/8 inch ribbons that you can find at craft stores and has a lot of different colors.

5. Measuring Tape, all of you will probably know what this is.
6. Threads and Needles, buy a cone of the black and white thread because you know you need it A LOT.

7. Scissors, you will also need 2 kinds of scissors, one for fabrics and the other for paper just because you can't mix the 2.

8. Pattern Paper/ Brown Paper, I get mine in rolls and at 4 ft tall so that I would't be buying them all the time. You can buy this at Overseas Paper also near Tabora. It's only for 120Php a roll.

9. Transfer Paper, you will need this to transfer your pattern to the fabric, and it is washable so you wouldn't have to worry it won't come off later.it's about 85Php at Tabora of course!

10. Thread Cutter and Seam Ripper, they are almost alike and you can probably use both with the same purpose if you want. The Seam Ripper is VERY helpful.

Thread Cutter                                                   Seam Ripper

11. Tracing Wheel, you will also need this in pattern making and I recommend buying the ones with wooden handles just because the plastic ones break easily.

12. Pins, for keeping fabrics in place. You can buy the ones with heads or without.

13.Zipper footers, in case the Industrial Machines you have in school doesn't have one. You will basically just need regular zipper footers (left and right) also Invisible zipper footers.

14.Markers, these are for your fashion illustration classes. You can choose from Copic Markers (the best ones 250Php each locally), Triad Markers, or the Pro markers (conveniently available at fully booked at 99Php each) Avoid Kure Colors just because they are too bright unless you want your designs to be neon all the time.

I know these may be a lot and also costs a lot of money, but if you really want this course it will all be very helpful for you even in the future! Goodluck! and I hope this helps!

Let's swim!

Summer's almost over and I didn't even get to experience enough sun and beach during these times, so I'm just feeling like putting together swim outfits that I would definitely be wearing if I get my hands on them!

I chose these one piece swimsuits just because I'm not that comfortable with 2 piece ones. but regardless, I still want to look pretty in them so I opted for these printed ones to make it more fun and pretty as well.

Hope you enjoyed!

Zalora Online Shopping Philippines

Many of you may already heard of Zalora, just because they are advertising everywhere specially online. They recently just opened a pop up store in Shangila Mall, Mandaluyong which I will be checking out soon hopefully! nonetheless, this post will be about my experience with online shopping in Zalora.

I heard about it from my friends and they just told me how convenient it was to shop there so without hesitation, I started browsing their website and found some really nice items. My favorite boutiques are from the outlet section which are the Zalora (basics) and Something Borrowed. I'm just so happy that the clothes they sell are right up my street.

They also have different modes of payment that you can choose for your convenience as well. With my first order I chose the bank deposit one and I regretted it! I had to wait a long line at BPI (because they're the only one that doesn't have a deposit fee) and so my orders were on hold until I was able to send the deposit slip to Zalora. My orders were almost cancelled because I ordered them on a friday night and apparently you only get 1-2 days reservation, but luckily they gave me one day extension to pay. I learned my lesson, so my succeeding orders I just chose the "cash on delivery" and also tried the "credit card payment" so all I have to worry about is being there when they deliver it which is a better transaction just because you will get a text message asking if you will be home around a certain time for them to deliver it to you.

Pros:

  • You can return the items 30 days prior to buying them for free!
  • You can email them to pick up your items that you want to return or exchange for free!
  • They always have sale items
  • They really have quality clothing.
  • They have a wishlist so you can just put them in your cart when you're ready to buy them
  • They have discount codes that you should always wait for, for a better price!
  • They're packaging are really nice because they stick the package with your name on it.
Cons:
  • They ran out of stock easily... :(
SHARE YOUR ZALORA EXPERIENCE and i might do a haul post next!

What my house would be like:

I'm so excited for the day that I would have my own home and all my own furniture just because I'm a little OCD when it comes to having everything in their own respective place just like Monica in FRIENDS and everything should match color wise and theme wise.

A lot of pink is going on in my selection below just because I like the neatness it brings combined with whites. I also like structured and minimalist things as you can see below. I want my home to have the feeling of cleanliness and also has a relaxing aura where people could stay all day long and just lounge around the house!

Date outfit!

Since we ended school around May and be back on August, I just thought of putting a date outfit together since I'm sure most of us will be having them before the school starts! I put together a day time outfit, going to the mall or even watching a movie together and also for trying out new restaurants! It's a simple yet stylish outfit that I got mostly from Zara. The high neck top with frills at the bottom and matching it with a monochrome skirt just makes it more sophisticated. I also added some pop of colors like the bejeweled sandals and the nail polish as well.

Hope this inspired you!

Spring is Coming!

As for most countries, Spring is coming and so I made this little collage of pieces that I would definitely wear for spring time (if we ever have one in our country)

For me, Spring is all about florals and pastels. I just had to throw in that unicorn dress number because I just couldn't resist!!!

50 shades of blue-homeware edition

The color blue have been attracting me in everything I buy. It just has this certain coolness in it. I wouldn't mind if it is a darker blue or a lighter one, as long as it is between the borders of blue then I;m fine with it.

This will be a beautiful color for Spring as well!
(outfit post on Spring clothing coming soon!!)

books and notebook haul- London

The last haul from my London trip would be these awesome books and notebook which I got mostly in reduced prices! I've always love buying notebooks that just looks amazing and their the ones that you wouldn't want to write on. These days though I've been searching for fashion books that can inspire me in times that I just can't think of anything to draw/ design.

Let's start with the notebooks!

I got this one at Paper Chase while it was on sale! It's very thick and has ruled pages.

I got these 3 at TK Maxx. I can't decide which one to get so I just decided to get all of them. They have a smooth texture that I can't quite explain but I can feel that they are  of high quality notebooks. I just wished I got more.

Off to books that I purchased!!

I got "The little dictionary of fashion" by Christian Dior at the V&A Museum and I got the "Fashion Sketchbook" by Martin Dawber at TK Maxx.

I also got this book by one of my favorite youtubers, Tanya Burr! It was buy 1 get 1 half price so I had to have Zoella's book too! (I hope to start reading them by Summer)

Every weekend thing.

During my trip to London, I bought this pair of ripped jeans just like the Topshop ones in Primark and I've been loving it so much, but I can't wear them to school so I just use it every weekend. This is what I probably look like when you see me at the mall or in streets.

Shoes and Bags haul-London

As my previous post mentioned that I went to London and so I want to share with you the bags and shoes that I got there! I'm so excited to use every single one of these...

Let's get started!

1.) My main purchase for the entire trip was only this Ted Baker bag.

(It has a nude body and has rose gold and black bow in front. I love how sturdy it feels. It also has a small pocket inside. )

2.) I also purchased this bag from Primark:

( This is very similar to the Debenhams one that I almost bought and the Celine luggage tote that I've always wanted, it's just that this is a tad cheaper than those 2.)

3.) I also got this canvas tote bag from Primark
(It has a Unicorn on it what else can I say. It also has unicorns at the back. )

4.) Lastly for the bag section I also got this Make up bag from Zoella's line at Superdrug

(Being a fan of Zoella of course I have to buy this. It's very soft and very spacious as well. I was debating on getting this one or the "just say yes" one but I'm glad I chose this in the end.)

Moving on with shoes!! I'm such a shoe addict that I always ran out of space for them. I just feel like I need more and in every style they have. This trip wasn't an exemption.

First off!!! I got this from TK Maxx

My love for Holographics and I've been searching for loafers since I was in the country! The top is as you can see holographic but it's sides have a croc print leatherette in black.

I also got 2 pairs of shoes from Primark:

I have also been looking for a good pair of these types here in the Philippines but other than Topshop (which is too expensive) nothing seems to be in good quality with the right price as well, I'm just glad that I found a pair in my size. PS. It's really jet black. it just seems to be faded in the picture.

Lastly, I got these sandals because I have been looking for one that fits my feet! Everything I've seen just slips of my feet even if it's in my size.

That's the end for now!!!

1 more haul from London coming next! (books and notebooks edition)

Hope you enjoyed!

I haven't really tried anything yet except for the Barry M. in Blueberry and so far so good. so I hope it's the same for all of the nailpolishes I've purchased. I'm expecting a lot from the American Apparel in "white hologram" but I see it as quite too opaque so I might need to find a tutorial on how to apply it the best on my nails.

Let me know what you think about the nailpolishes that I've purchased or tell me what I should've bought instead!

Hope you enjoyed!

Let's go with Pastel.

Valentine's Day is coming up and I'm sure everyone has plans to go out because it falls on a weekend and that means no work/ classes! It's a special event that's celebrated not only for couples but for friends as well. You don't need a partner just to celebrate because it's just a day spent to celebrate love, and this time instead of wearing red (and you'll be a floating head from all the red decorations everywhere) or heart prints, I'm going for pastel colors. All my friends know how much I love pastel because it's the color I go for in times of uncertainty. The colors of this family are usually described as "soothing", "soft", "near neutral", "milky", "washed out", "desaturated", lacking strong chromatic content.

I've also made a set of pastels you could wear to a nice lunch/dinner out.

Hope you enjoyed!

Plaid?

Plaid is also something you can't go wrong with. Be it nerds or the coolest people in town, everybody  wears them. There are different types of what people would just refer to as "plaids", and I'll be going through them today just to clarify everything for everyone. It's something I learned in school and it's kind of confusing at first but eventually you'll get around it.

1. Plaids/ Tartans.
-is a pattern consisting of criss-crossed horizontal and vertical bands in multiple colours.

2. Gingham
- has no right or wrong side with respect to colour.

3. Checkered
- is a pattern of modified stripes consisting of crossed horizontal and vertical lines forming squares.

4. Window pane
-it's formed by two perpendicular pinstripes.

Finally here's something I put together that embodies at least 3 of the types of patterns that's said above. :) hope you enjoyed!

Lednail Gel Polish.

I've known about gel polishes for quite a while now but only a week ago was I able to buy a UV light which is very crucial in getting gel nails. I got mine at a Japan Surplus which I was so excited about because it might be a little dusty at first but, just wiped it with alcohol and it looked like brand new. I also think it was brand new from the start just because the sticker thing at the bottom of where you place your nails is still there so that's a plus. The lady also said that I should plug it with only 100 V but then I read the box and the plug that it's 100-240V and so I just plugged it directly and it still worked fine. The UV lamp that I got is the Diamond CCFL UV lamp in white (picture below) and it retails for $62.40 at Aliexpress (around Php 2700) that's a lot of money! and I only got mine for around Php500.

Other things you need to achieve the gel polish:
  • Buffer
  • UV Light
  • Gel Polish
  • Top Coat
  • Base Coat
  • Acetone
  • Cotton Balls

I don't have the base coat just yet because the store didn't have it in the same brand as my top coat and gel polish. The top coat and gel polish were 200 each and the primer costs 300. (got them all at 168 Shopping Mall)

Simple Procedure:
  • Buff your nails and push the cuticles inward.
  • Apply the primer and wait for it to dry.
  • Apply first coat of gel polish (leave for 3 min under UV light)
  • Apply second coat of gel polish (leave for 3 min under UV light)
  • Apply third coat of gel polish (leave for 3 min under UV light)
  • Apply Top coat (leave for 5 min under UV light)
  • Apply another layer of Top coat (leave for 5 min under UV light)
  • Use a cotton with acetone and just swipe it across each nail and you now have a smooth, shiny gel polish!!

The gel polish that I chose is a Tiffany Blue shade and I just love pastels. I love the overall effect it gives me, the shine, texture, thickness and hopefully the amount of time it will need to start chipping off. I'm planning to buy more colors in the future, hopefully my mom would help me buy them because they're a little more expensive than the ordinary kind. btw, my polishes aren't the best ones there. They have the 500+ per bottle and I'm eyeing for those next time because the lady said they lasts much longer. :)

How to remove them?  click here.

Hope you learned something!

Smell nice for a price!

There are times when we just don't feel comfortable in ourselves, and I've learned that sometimes all you need is a perfume that will make you smell nice and be confident of yourself. I like my perfumes to be fruity or floral scented and I found one that's a Marc Jacobs one. The Daisy perfume is very popular and it has a lot of variety as well. I chose the original one which is the white one and I just love the scent. I asked my mom to buy it for me just because it's a lot of money for me then. As I remember the 100ml bottle costs almost about 4000Php... I'm also eyeing for the Honey one with the bees around the cap (picture below) and also the pink Daisy bottle one.

Aside from that, I also like the Chloe perfumes. I first got mine when someone got me a travel set with a sample of different ones. I particularly like the Love, Chloe one. It just has that sophisticated yet still very light scent to it. I use it when I want to feel "professional" not like my Marc Jacobs one that I use everyday. Hope this helps!
